Exciting Week Ahead!
Hold on to your hats! Next week you will earn your Christmas break! Be sure to enjoy the excitement. This is one of the times a year that kids LOVE! It is easy to get caught up in the commercialism and all the hoopla that goes on this time of year so try to take a moment to breathe and take it all in. I am looking forward to our Christmas Tea and reading to the kids this week.
Speaking of Christmas Tea – BE THERE Monday after school. I have ordered Zio’s and please feel free to bring in a desert. Even if you didn’t sign up you are welcome to add to our calories for the day:):) Let’s just enjoy each other’s company and take advantage of the service committee’s hard work!
Christmas Pictures Bulletin Board – Please bring in your family Christmas pictures or letters or cards for our bulletin board. It is so exciting to see how our families are changing over the years. We already haveĀ a few pictures posted and get some in the mail each day. (Alyson cut her bangs this week so my picture may be a little late:):):)
Report Cards/Perm Records – Next week is the last week of the semester so you can begin to work on report cards and perm records. Please be sure to sign the perm record folder at least once this year. New teachers, please see your mentor about perm records. We have Taco Bell certificates to go in report cards that I forgot 1st Quarter. Please help us in the office remember to give these to you:)
Guided Reading Lesson plans - These are looking great! I need to come up with a way for all of us to share our organization and management. There are so many good ideas within our own building. I haven’t been around to see everyone yet but I am making my way! Please be sure to use the strategies that the Lit Team came up with in your plans. There are lots of strategies that we probably forgot about over the years:)
Assessment Wall - We will do some assessment wall work during grade level planning time when we come back from break. Be ready to move your cards on the wall when we get back. You will also need to turn in reading levels for 2nd quarter. I will send reminders.
January Newsletter Input – Please email me any information that I need to include in the January newsletter. I would like to send it home on Friday but may wait until Report Cards after break.
Character/Behavior Boot Camp – When we come back from Christmas break be ready to review all your routines. Let’s spend a couple weeks getting the kids back on track and getting used the routines you began at the beginning of the year. Please use the behavior chart that we posted in the hallway with pictures as our base behaviors. Go over those with your class and refer to often. I think you will notice a big difference!
K12Online Conference – I have watched only 3 of the 28 presentations released so far. I plan to watch some more when I have time but I have to recommend Little Kids, Big Possibilities because it is practical for your classroom. She goes over using 4 tools: Wallwisher, Wordle, Comic Strips, & Edmodo. I have not idea about the last two but Wallwisher and Wordle are something that every grade level can use.
